The Camino Partnership
St Mary's enjoys the privilege of being a member of the Camino Partnership. This partnership is what is known as a ‘soft’ federation – in other words the schools all remain distinctive, with their own governing bodies, but they work together with a common aim, in our case the promotion of Catholic education. Currently there are twelve member schools within this federation which includes both state and independent institutions.
Joint Projects
The Camino offers a range of exciting opportunities to pupils, staff and governors of the member schools. Over the last few years the federation has planned shared charity events, e.g. CAFOD Hungry for Change Campaign and an annual Mass.
Teachers and leaders collaborate frequently and fruitfully, and the federation has created several schemes of work and operates a range of focused working groups and networks.
Children in our Year 5 class are invited to participate in a weekend residential retreat at Kilve Court which is led and attended by leaders, teachers and pupils from several of the federation's primary schools.
Camino and St Mary's, Bath
St Mary's is an active member of the Camino and our school governors, leadership team and teachers regularly engage with many of the planned meetings, activities and events.
Mrs Pecchia, our RE leader, is a member of the RE and chaplaincy coordinator network and attends termly meetings. These networks have planned a range of collaborative and fundraising events as well as designing teaching and learning resources.
Staff training has been led by colleagues from our federation schools and our school often hosts sessions. Our schools meal termly to moderate standards in RE, Writing and Mathematics.
Mr Tarrant regularly attends meetings of the Strategic and Operational Board and works closely with Heads from member schools. He sits as the Partnership's representative for the Resources Committee on the Clifton Catholic Diocesan Education Foundation (CCDEF). The Partnership is committed to exploring more formal methods of working with one another following Bishop Declan's call to investigate diocesan multi-academy trusts.
